Presents from the Brat Pack!

What a great barkday! I got so many presents in the mail I can hardly believe it!! I am one lucky dog, let me tell you. I only get to open one package at a time so you'll get to see them all sometime this week.

Before I get to the fantastic presents from The Brat Pack, I wanted to show you the little cake my Mom made just for me! It's ground lamb & veggies. And let me tell you...it was heavenly!



OK, now for my presents! I got this giant box filled with goodies.


Just look at all this loot! Yummy PB Power Bones, a super fun strawberry Mom can fill up with cookies, a bouncy ball that will surely last longer than my tennis balls, a fat monkey that looks just like Sherman and a new purse!



Guess which one I liked the most??? A Diva can never have too many purses!

Penny also got something. She has a secret admirer named Tucker Doodle...don't worry Tucker...I didn't tell her it was from you.

It was a beautiful heart shaped stuffie filled with candy! I helped Penny pick out all the candy pieces, but we didn't break the heart. Don't worry. Here's a picture of Penny & her heart...pre-candy picking.

And even Sherman got something from his love bug, Dot Spot. She sent him this little love note...couldn't you just gag at the sweetness of it all???


But he's happy and now all he plays with are Pink Piggie & Cuddly Wuddly Bear!

I did get to open all of my cards & just look how thoughtful everypup (and hamster) are! They're all PINK!! Thank you to Ruby & Jackson for the e-cards.

Let's take a break from Lola...

Ahhhhh....Lola had a fantastic Barkday & she has so many pressies to open up and share with Sherman & I. I promise to make her show yinz guys all of her goodies later this week.

But pawsonally, I think we've had enough of Lola! She might be my bestest friend in the whole world, but she's had the spotlight for the whole week. What about Penny?

Today is my 2nd Barkday and I am very excited to be a big girl. I got a super special barkday card from Asta the Fantastica! Thank you for the special wishes, my Foxy little Diva pal!



Asta was the puparazzi at our big pawty in Salem over the weekend. She even managed to get a group shot!

Tonight I get to go to the park, open my present from The Brat Pack & eat a special barkday dinner. I could really get used to this!

Oh & BTW, Mom made me turn the Pumpkin back into a Sherman. I guess since Al left, it's OK to have him back!

I am NOT a happy Diva!

This is supposed to be MY special weekend! MY Barkday is next week and my super special Pittsburgh friends, Scruffy & Lacie, planned this great Pawty for all the DWBers who have Halloween Barkdays. Amber & Koobus & Lorenza & Dewey & Precious & ME..we're all 'sposed to celebrate our Barkdays in Salem. At OUR Pawty. With all of our friends.

And I didn't invite Sherman. He cramps my style. He's old & grouchy & a total buzz kill. Penny & I don't call him the Fun Police for nuthin'

Well. I totally caught Sherman sending secret blog messages to his BFF Wally T. Corgador. Sherman told Wally to send that stupid guy, Mr. Al Urgee to Jackman Avenue and RUIN MY WEEKEND!!!

Yep. I'm guilty.

Now look at me!!!

Look at these super awful ITCHIES Al Urgee gave to me! I can't stand it! All I can do is scratch, scratch, scratch, scratch and scratch some more!! It's awful.

LOOK AWAY! I'M HIDEOUS!

Mom had to take me to the V.E.T today to make sure I don't have bugs. BUGS!! Divas don't get BUGS! They had to scrape off parts of my skin and take samples of my furs & look at them under a giant telescope.

The good news is...I haven't gained a pound. I'm still a petite 40.9 lbs. How much do you weigh Sherman??? Huh???? Betcha it's 10 times that, Chubs!

I digress. I don't have bugs. But, the V.E.T. told Mom that Al Urgee is gonna be here a while. We live in a super old house with an old furnace and I'm apparently very sensitive to old, crusty dust. Guess we'll just have to get rid of Sherman! She gave me some drugs to help the itchies and she suggested we get our Ducks cleaned.

Ducks??? WTF! Exactly where have Mom & Dad been hiding these Ducks?? Ducks are delicious! Penny & I will be happy to clean them...free of charge.

Don't think Sherman is gonna get away with this. Oh No. I know people. Wizards, actually.

Sherman, meet Joseph Stains...the Wizard of all Stains. Check out his giant wand.

I contacted Joe about my little "situation" with Sherman and he was happy to help. He's gonna give me a little lick at the pawty (don't worry boyz...just as friends).

He told me to whip up a little Witches Brew and put a couple of "Stain" drops in it. I'm to tell Sherman it's chicken broth.

Chubs didn't know the difference & before long...he was in a deep slumber.

And then....POOF!! Sherman turned into a Pumpkin!! Oh Thank You Master Wizard of Stains!

That will teach you Sherman! Don't mess with the Diva.

And just to make Sherman (ahem, I mean...Mr. Pumpkin Head) a little more miserable...I got my first ever Barkday Pressie from The Brat Pack!!! Thank You, Happy Hounds!!!!!

I'm not allowed to open it until my Barkday. But Sherman is gonna be Pee Ohhhed!! Neener, neener, neener...Dot sent me a Pressie!

Chew & Tell, by Penny

Yes, it is true. I am a princess.

Not in a bad way, but I'm very particular about what I eat. Mom has created a monster by making homemade treats for us and my favorite are her special liver brownies.

She's not always able to bake for us (because she's LAZY) so she's been on the hunt for a healthy treat that I will actually eat. Here are my favorites:

Stella & Chewies Carnivore Crunch (grain free), beef or chicken

(Chicken ingredients: Free-range chicken, chicken bone, chicken liver, chicken heart, organic kelp, organic flax seed, fortified with vitamins and minerals. Analysis: Min. Protein 42%, Min. Fat 36%, Max. Fiber 1.5%, Max. Moisture 6%.)

These are quiet yummy but a bit big for training. They're they size of a grape & good if your human doesn't really like stinky treats. I like both the beef & the chicken.





Plato Smart Dog Treats, Salmon Flavor



(Salmon Ingredients: Salmon (preserved with natural mixed tocopherols, citric acid and rosemary extract), Organic brown rice, Organic sea salt, Zinc proteinate, vitamin supplement, coated ascorbic acid (source of vitamin C), glucosamine sulfate, carotene. I love both the Beef & Chicken flavor of these treats. The treats are HUGE, but can be broken into small pieces easily.

Now these...these are my FAVORITE treats of all. They are ultra stinky and Sherman, Lola & I will push each other out of the way to get to Mom if we hear the bag. These win the award for "Penny's favorte treat in a bag!"

Staff Sargent Sherman...reporting for duty

Last week, we got a new mission from the AO4. Sorry, I'm a little behind Dave...I've been doing quality control in the mess hall.

Dave made our orders very clear and I wanted to let him know that Staff Sargent Sherman is reporting for duty! I will tell you how I'm planning my strategy.



Jackman Avenue is now secure.

Stuffie Removal...step by step

My gal pal Luckie Girl is a very skilled surgeon. She's performed countless opawrations on many stuffies and her recent work on Mr. Cow is a shining example of her talent. In addition to being a Diva, I too, am a stuffie surgeon. My primary skill is squeaker transplants. Extracted squeakers can be donated to many deserving stuffies that have a broken squeaker...or were born without a squeaker.


I start by inspecting my stuffie to determine the primary spot for extraction.


In this patient, Greenie Hedgehog, that would be his belly. I use my scalpel (aka, my teefers) to make a small incision along the abdominal cavity.


I then begin removing Greenie Hedgehog's guts, being very careful not to damage the squeaker.





Once extracted, I massage the squeaker with my lips to ensure it is in good working order.





It was touch and go for a moment...Greenie Hedgehog's squeaker momentarily stopped squeaking!

But I performed SSR (Stuffie Squeaker Resuscitation) on it and it sprung back to life! Whew! That was a close one.


I know all of you DWBers out there have it in you to be skilled surgeons like Luckie & I. It just takes a lot of determination and practice, practice, practice. Your humans will have to provide you with many specimens to brush up on your skills. It ain't cheap putting us doggins through school (and they thought they were getting off easy!)

We interupt our regularly scheduled blogging...

Even though I have 3 beautiful, healthy, perfect dogs (OK, perfect most days), I'm still in the habit of checking out local rescues & shelters websites...just to look. I was doing that today when I came across a dog that broke my heart.

This is Charlie. And his story is the kind that keeps me up at night.


Charlie was used as a stud dog for a Pennsylvania puppy mill. He was kept in a rabbit cage his whole life and was only taken out to breed with other females. When he stopped "producing", the bastard that owned him was kind enough to turn him into rescue. He said Charlie was "a good dog. He gave me lots of puppies". There is a special place in hell for people like him.

Right now, Charlie is a looking for a foster home and with lots of love and special care, he will hopefully have a year or two living in the lap of luxury.

This is just a gentle reminder to never support puppy mills or backyard breeders. The puppies may tug at your heartstrings, but they most likely have a Dad (and Mom) who has suffered for years...just like Charlie.

Oh, and yes, I've already told Scott we should foster him and yes, he's already said No.

We're not neglected, just our blog!

It is finally cooled down around here and we are all SO excited. We're finally getting lots of great walkies and enjoying temps in the 60s. Unfortunately, that means Mom has been totally neglecting out blog.

Today was pretty much the perfect day. Penny & I went on a walk all over the neighborhood for an HOUR! I spread so much pee mail, I ran out at the end! Then Mom walked Lola for 45 minutes and we spent the rest of the morning hanging out in the yard.

And chased each other all over the yard.

I hung out and supervised. And for the record, I was not digging a new hole. Swear it.

Then we hung out on the deck & ate big giant marrow bones...not to many days left for us to snack alfresco, so we stayed out there as long as we could.

See how sunny it is here! And even better, it's only in the 60s. Ahhhhhh, I love Fall!

Penny was kind of bummed that the Steelers didn't play today so she & Lola took a nap in the afternoon.

I just hung out & chewed some more.

We'll be around to visit everyone tomorrow!
