Christmas!

Well, we sort of got the shaft on Christmas Day. Mom & Dad went to visit family and we had to stay home! Bah Humbug.

And what's worse, I found out Mom was hanging out with my cousin Shamis. He's a Golden Retreiver (and he's single Amber Mae!). We weren't allowed to go play with him because there were lots of humans at our Aunt Katie & Uncle Kevin's house and we play kinda rough. And Sherman likes to hump Shamis.

He's eating one of my Moo Tubes!!!! Looks like he's enjoying himself.

Anyway, we got to open our first presents tonight. We got so many, we get a couple each day for the rest of the week!! Lola & I got a big honking hedgehog. We always share presents.

Because we have so much fun wrasslin' with them.

Somehow, I always end up on the bottom of the pile.

Sherman got a bunny rabbit! It looks freakishly like the real thing. He prefers to play by himself as he can be a giant grouch about his toys.

But he's OK with that. Obviously.

Christmas is Pawesome!!

We hope everypup (and hamster and kitty) had a fantastic Christmas filled with all of their favorite things!

Waiting for Santa Paws

We are ready for Santa Paws to come to Town!! The tree is decorated and all the presents have been wrapped.

We had a special Xmas Eve dinner...beef & bones & broccoli. Doesn't it look festive!

We put out our favorite liver brownies for Santa with a special holiday brew.

He'll have to wait till he gets back to the North Pole to try it...No drinking & Sleighing!

And finally we lit a special Holiday candle for all of our DWB friends. We are so blessed to be part of the most wonderful and supportive community in the whole wide Internet. We truly cherish all of the friendships we've made...both canine, feline, hamsterrier and hooman. We hope each & every one of you have the bestest holiday ever.

Now how many hours till we get to open Pressies???

Enuf with the Pawties!!

Christmas is definitely one of my favorite times of year. First of all, it was when I came to live with my family 2 years ago. And we get lots of presents and visitors. And Mom bakes special Xmas cookies for all of our doggie friends. And Mom and Dad spend extra time at home hanging out with us.

It's that last part I'm taking a bit of an issue with. I've noticed on other blogs that all the pawrents have been going to lots of pawties without their favorite 4 legged friends. Mitchy even got so fed up with his pawrents gallivanting all over the place without him, that he ripped up his favorite bed!

I have also noticed that Mom & Dad have been spending a lot of time with their friends...eating delicious foodables, mind you...WITHOUT US!

Evidence found on Mom's camera. There's my Dad...at a special dinner...with lots of my human friends. Where am I in this picture? Where is Sherman? Where is Penny? We're at home!!

This is my Auntie J.Law. and my Auntie Rachel. Auntie J. Law has TWO puppies growing in her belly!! And they are both boy puppies. I'm trying to convince her to name them Sherman and Tadpole after my brother and my BFF...but she said she already knows one Sherman so that would be weird. Taddy, there's still hope for you! Auntie Rachel is the one with the pretty yellow hair. I like her a lot because she's kind of a Diva too.

She likes Sherman the most though because he's old and chubby and doesn't jump on her. That is how I say I LOVE YOU...by jumping on you and kissing you on the face!

But guess who Auntie Kristen likes the best. Yep, ME! She's is the bestest snuggler...next to Mom & Dad, of course.

So, in a nutshell...I'm sick of all of these stupid pawties that I don't get to attend. I haven't destroyed anything, YET, but if Mom & Dad keep this up...they better hid their shoes!

On a side note, our new friends Rosie & Abby over at The Dog Log are looking for stories of rescued dogs to publish on their site. Sherman submitted his story yesterday...go on over & read all about it!

Cards, cards, cards!

You may wonder why I'm smiling even though I am wearing the ridiculous outfit. Well, let me tell you...

Just look at all of the cards we've received!! Our DWBs Xmas Card door is almost filled up!! This has been so much fun and we're so glad we participated this year!

We are so much more popular than our pawrents.

Goodbye Thrawn

With a heavy heart, we report that Thrawn has crossed the Bridge. Thrawn was a member of our dear friends over at the Brat Pack. He is in a place where it always snows and there is no such thing as seizures or arthritis.

Maryann, our thoughts and prayers are with you today. We have made a donation to MaPaw in his honor.

Tag Lag

We are SOOOO behind on our Tags and Mom says she's very, very sorry. We love being tagged...we've just gotten a little behind. But...first things first.

The Barking Loud gang gave us the Bestest Friends Award!!

The award says: "Life is like Hell without FRIENDS. It's ‘World Best Friend Week’. Send this to your best friends to let them know you appreciate them. Please take this award, and place it on your blog if you wish.

Right back at you guys!!

There are so many Doggies (and Hammies) we could pass this on to, but it's only fitting that we send it to Charlie & Opy. 'Cuz without them...we wouldn't have met any of you!

I'll start off with Harry & Cassidy's tag. When tagged, you must link to the person who tagged you. Then post these rules, and list 8 things that make you happy. At the end of your list, you must tag and link to 8 other people.

1. Mom

2. Dad

3. Food

4. Tennis Balls

5. Wrasslin' with Penny

6. Walkies

7. Camp Bow Wow

8. Snuggling in the big bed with Mom & Penny

We were also tagged by our new Boxer buddy, Kaiser. If you haven't stopped to see him...GO! Be prepared to say Awwwwwww. Anyway - The Rules:- link to your Tagger and post these rules….1. list eight (8) random facts about yourself2. tag eight people at the end of your post & list their names (linking to them)3. let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving them a comment on their blogs.

I'll take this one...

1. I came to live at Jackman Ave when I was 7 months old.

2. I was attacked at the Dog Park when I was a year & a 1/2 old leaving a 6 inch scar on my side...and an even bigger scar in my temperment.

3. I love puppies! I was the bestest puppy raiser for Lola.

4. I can run reeeeeeeally fast.

5. My muzzle started turning white when I was 2.

6. I have the very important responsibility of waking up Dad on the weekends. I give him very gentle kisses and snort in his face...and most times I don't even step on him "where it counts".

7. I take my job of guarding the house very seriously and will rush downstairs...hackles up, barking mad...if I hear a strange sound outside. Sherman stays at the top of the steps & waits for me to check things out.

8. Speaking of Sherman, I sometimes miss when it was just me & him. We never play anymore, but we used to. At least I have Lola.

I'm very sorry, but I can't remember who tagged us for this one but I'm supposed to list seven things that annoy me. Well...there are way more than just 7 things that annoy me but I'll try to limit myself.

1. When Lola turns into a spaz & licks me in my mouth & jumps on me.

2. When Mom & Dad make me get off the big bed at night & sleep on the floor.

3. When I try to play with my stuffies at 3:00 in the morning & no one will wake up to tug with me.

4. The mailman.

5. Having to sit & wait to eat my food....it's in my bowl, on the floor, ready to go. What's the point in waiting????

6. The Furminator

7. Sharing my house with Penny & Lola

OK...that's it for now. Sorry it took us so long to do our Tags. I know we're supposed to Tag other pups but I think most other dogs have been Tagged. But just in case...I'll hit our new friends Tatum Tot, Peanuthead & Snoop Dog. Pick a Tag..any Tag!

We're havin' a heat wave!

Yes, I am very, very jealous about all of the snow my friends have been getting. Sophie has like 27 feet of the white stuff at her house! I love the snow. And we had a few days last week where it snowed every day. I was in heaven.

I got to spread my pee mail all over the neighborhood.

And make lots of yellow snow cones.

Then it got warm and the snow melted and it's been raining ever since. Yuck!

But tonight...the rain stopped and the temperature went to almost 65 degress! A regular heatwave for Pittsburgh in December. It was so nice outside, we got to eat our dinner on the deck among all of the Christmas lights.

A turkey neck just tastes better enjoyed al fresco!

It was like fine dining at a fancy French Bistro!

Lola took her time and really savored the experience. It would probably be the last time we can eat outside for a several months.

Hmmm...I think I love turkey necks more than snow.

I hate you Patriots!

I am not a happy Diva tonight.

My favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the stupid New England Patriots. Penny is pretty bummed out too. Mom said we shouldn't be too sad because they are undefeated.

When we feel sad, the only thing that makes us feel better is snuggling together.

Mmmmmmm...actually stuffies make us feel better. And bully straps. And pig ears. And chicken backables. And cookies. But snuggling is good too.

Speaking of cookies, a lot of pups have been showing their treat jars. Well, we are obviously neglected because we don't have a treat jar! We just have a little treat dish (Penny's treats are kept in a bag b/c she's very particular about what she eats. Sherman & I eat anything).

See how little it is!

We also have a treat shelf in the top of our dog closet, but we haven't quite figured out how to use a ladder yet. I think if Penny stands on Sherman & I stand on Penny...we could reach the top & help ourselves.

Now if I could only get around the whole opposable thumbs issue.

Going to a Pawty!!

Mom & Dad had their holiday party for their work tonight & were feeling really guilty because we'd be home all by ourselves while they stuffed their faces with all kinds of party food.

I told them not to worry because we had our own holiday pawty to attend! We're headed to the Big Apple to celebrate St. Nicholas Day with Asta the Fantastica!

We put on our best holiday attire & are waiting for
Aire Ruby to pick us up. See yinz guys at the Pawty!

If I didn't have dogs...

-I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.

-My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.

-All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.

-When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel.

-I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable.

-I would not have strange presents under my Christmas tree - dog bones, stuffed animals, toys, and treats nor would I have to explain to people why I wrap them.

-I would have money and no guilt to go on a real vacation.

-I would not be on a first-name basis with 4 veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grand kids through college.

-The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, and leave him/her/it ALONE.

-My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers.

-My house would not look like a day care center, toys everywhere.

-My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an extra leash.

-I would no longer have to Spell the words B-A-L-L-, F-R-I-S-B-E- E, W-A-L- K, T-R-E-A-T or R-I-D-E.

-I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.

-I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much.

-I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading "muddy" season.

-I would not have to answer the question "Why do you have so many animals?" from people who do not have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get.

If I didn't have dogs ................... How empty my life would be.

Mom finally got her act together!!

And it's about time! The holiday card photo shoot went OK...the cards have been ordered & will be mailed this weekend.

Mom made us pose for about 800 bazillion pictures and by the time it was all done...we were exhausted! Even Penny & Lola were pooped...and those two have energy to burn.

And it's a good thing b/c our DWB holiday card door is filling up! Look how many cards we've received so far!

And Dad put all the Christmas lights up this weekend. Get a load of our house!!

Mom says you can see it from the MOON! Too bad it wasn't done on Friday or we could have shown all of our friends where we live at Goofy's Space Party.

And what a party it was!!!

Oh, and our Grandpap is out of Intensive Care but is still in the hospital. He's doing a lot better though & Mom is gonna see if I can go visit him! I AM Certified Therapy Dog after all.

The Dogs are sleeping...

So I'm taking over their blog!

I want to thank all of our amazing DWBs friends for all of the well wishes for Scott's Dad. He's still in the ICU, but is slowing getting better. I just keep thinking positively. He WILL be home for Xmas.

Speaking of Xmas...I must have a been a very good girl this year because I got my first present in the mail this week. Seadra & Zoe's Mom sent us this fantastic wreath decorated with 3 dogs. The picture doesn't do it justice, but it is Sherman, Penny & Lola!! The little white dog even has a Lola eyepatch!

I hung it on our DWBs Holiday Card display door. It's a perfect centerpiece! We've received 5 cards so far...Comet & Blu, Lenny, Cairo, Randi & The Dogs. This is so much fun!

And about those cards...~hanging head in shame~...I'm a little late. I tried to take a couple pictures this week, but I didn't really like them.

We're gonna get the official shot this weekend & I'll mail all of them next week. I've been kinda freaking out & feeling like a slacker...but then I realized, it's not even December yet! Deep breaths...

Clover's Mom, Jess hit me with this cool tag..."Devise a list of 5-10 courses you would take to fix your life. It’s more fun to be in classes with friends, so include one class from the person who tagged you that you’d also like to take".

Well, I think I have a pretty great life, but there are many classes I'd like to take to enrich my life.

Yoga/Pilates - Jess wrote "I am horribly inflexible and uncoordinated, so I am too shy to try a class out, but I keep hearing raves about how good they are for your mind and body. My mind and body could use the boost." Oh man, if you only knew! I'm about the most uncoordinated person on earth. My first day of work I tripped down a flight of stairs in front of my boss & 3 of my new co-workers. I fell down walking across the street and broke my wrist in 4 places. I rolled off an exercise ball during an aerobics class and landed in the middle of the room. And my mind is a whole other story. Yoga would be perfect for me. If only I weren't so lazy.

The Art of Patience - Major character flaw. Traffic jams make me mental. Long lines make me want to chew my arm off. I hate waiting for the water to boil. Or waiting on hold. Or when our internet connection is slow.

Sewing 101 - I have a sewing machine, but have only made a few pillows & curtains with it. Move the fabric in a straight line...not to hard. But I would love to make coats & stuff for the dogs (like Lorenza's super talented Grandma). I get flubbed up on the patterns & stuff. I made a skirt once in 8th grade Home Ec. I forgot to measure for the hems when I cut the fabric. Fergie would have thought it was too short. I have a tendency to do that kinda stuff.

How to NOT spill stuff on yourself - especially coffee...on a new white shirt...at 7:30 in the morning. I should only be allowed to own black clothes.

Knitting - I have the needles & thread. And the little "How To" book. And I LOVE scarves. But it all goes back to that coordination thing. It would take me two years to make one scarf! And I'm constantly jabbing myself with the needles.

Photoshop - I have the software. But I get so freakin' frustrated I want to throw my computer out the window (see Art of Patience above)! I just need someone to show me how and then I, too, can make fun stuff like Ruby & Asta & Pappy's people.

Voice/Music Lessons - I love music and love to sing. And alone in my car...I'm a total rock star. But the reality is that I'm tone deaf. So I rarely do it in public. I'll take a good vocalist over a great guitar player anyday. I would also love to learn how play an instrument. Probably the drums. But back to coordination...how the hell do people move their arms & feet at the same time??? I'd end up hitting myself in the head with a drumstick while simulatinously kicking myself in the shin. Air guitar is much safer for me.

Yes, you can have Willpower! (or How to stop at 2 slices of pizza) - This needs no explaination.

I could go on & on here...but I'll stop. I'm gonna tag Karen, Jessica & Liza. Play along if you'd like!

The Dogs will be back tomorrow. Promise.

Snuggles

Thanks to everypup (and hamster) for all of the well wishes for our Grandpap. He's still in the hospital and is still feeling very icky. Mom & Dad have been going to see him a lot and we've been very good at home while they're gone.

And Sherman, Lola & I have been giving Dad lots of snuggle therapy. He needs it!

Sorry we haven't been around to visit everyone. We'll see you all soon!

I'm Sad

Hey Guys. Sorry I'm not my usual happy, cheerful self but I'm pretty sad right now. We should all be crazy & celebrating (and eating lots & lots of fun meatables) because it's Penny's Gotcha Day weekend.

But my Grandpap Don is in the hospital. He has a blood infection and is feeling really icky. Mom & Dad are going to see him tonight & I'm not even gonna complain when they leave me home alone. I just want him to get better. It's my Dad's Dad and he couldn't even come to our house for Turkey Day. And I love when he comes over because he feeds me from the table during dinner...no matter how much Mom & Dad yell at him. So I missed out on that but it's OK. I'd send all of my meatables to him if he'd get well. He's my bestest bud.

If you guys could say a special DWBs prayer for him, I'd really love it.

Don't worry about Penny. We'll celebrate her big day later. She doesn't mind. Just cross your paws and hope my Grandpap gets better soon.
