The Furminator!!

As Sherman's shedding has been out of control this Spring, I decided to try something other than the undercoat rake & stripping comb I've been using. The Furminator was delivered this week!!

I had heard a lot about the Furminator, but it completely exceeded my expectations. No, Sherman has not turned grey. Those are tufts of his undercoat.

And this is the pile of fur that I pulled off of him...after less than a minute of brushing. I might try to weave it into a sweater.

Now if I could just find something for the girls. Any of you Boxer (or shortcoated breed) folks out there have any suggestions for dealing with little, 3/4 inch barb-like hairs that prickle into every stuffed surface in the house??? Thank DoG they only blow coat twice a year...and the Spring shed is almost over.

Its cold and wet here, can I have the fur to stick on my own to keep me warm?

Actually, the Furminator is supposed to work on short-haired dogs, too! I have yet to buy it for Suki, but I know some people that have used it on their pugs and they love it.

Boxers only blow coat once a year? Oh, you're so lucky! Pugs shed year-round, and they have those little barb-like hairs, too!

Those furminators always look so cool! I don't need one as I don't shed my hair at all. I just get my coat hand stripped by mum. I think mum is seriously condidering one for Fat Flakes the cat though. She's a Perisan cross & is a walking furball!

I totally understand how u feel about having hairs all over the house. Huskee's fur gets into EVERYTHING.. even in our food, but well, we've gotten used to it. When we see the amount of hair on our clothes, we always joke that we bring a part of Huskee everywhere we go.

Oh mom says she is going to have to get that for Flash and Shelby. She also said have you ever got a boxer hair stuck in your foot? That hurts according to her

That Furminator looks scary to us. We sure hope our Mom & Dad don't see this post! We like our fur and we want to keep it!

Hello from a felow 'burgher (Squirrel Hill raised). Thanks for stopping by The Houndly Nugget! Cleveland is shedding quite a bit now too and he seems fascinated by his own hair. He'll go over and sniff at it and emerge with a fuzzball mustache. Cute or gross? Hmmm...

Hi, my mom does have the same problem with me twice a year. She uses a rubber glove (kind of sticky) to pet me all along my body and then brushes me, that way she can pick a lot of hair. Its not the best solution but mom says is better than nothing.
Have a nice day.

I am SO buying one of these before the weekend. I've been wishy washy about it because I wasn't sure how great it will do but I definitely think it will help around here. Maybe the hair balls under the furniture will only be the size of rabbits and not cats afterwards. ;)

We have a ton more fur we have furminated out of Dakota if you need another sweater.

Our boxer friends use the furminator on their boxers and love it. I don't get furminated, because the moms are too busy keeping up with Dakota's out of control shed festival!

It does look a bit like a medieval torture implement! You could use the fur from Sherman to knit a cosy jumper for Lola! J x
