Who's afraid of a little thunder????

Lola is!!!

This is something brand new. She was never afraid of thunder before. It really didn't phase her.

Last Friday we had some wicked thunderstorms with high wind & lightning. We always sit on the front deck & watch the storms, as long as the rain isn't blowing around too much. Well, the first loud clap of thunder & BAM! She scrambled up onto my lap. I told her "Oh knock it off...you're fine" and put her down on the ground. (Alright, alright...so I cuddled with her for a few seconds and gave her kisses. Bad Jenny.) I got up & moved into the office as the rain was starting to soak us & she was milling around, peeking her head outside to check out what was going on. A big flash of lightning hit close to the house followed by a really loud BOOM! It was as if she were shot out of a canon...she flew across the room & jumped in my lap. I made her get down and she hid under the desk & I ignored her. When I got up, she hid under the bed.

"So I'm afraid of thunder...SO WHAT??? Sherman is too!"

Sherman actually used to be petrified of thunder. I'd wake up in the middle of the night & he'd be sitting on my head. I knew we were having a storm. I started giving him stuffed Kongs or Bullies during storms and pretty much ignoring him & he's fine now. He doesn't want to be outside on the deck with us & but generally sticks pretty close & chills.

So how many of you pups are afraid of thunder????

Hey Sherman

You'd best look after your sister, Lola in the storms so she won't get frightened.

So far, we haven't had bad storms since I came to live with mum.

Have a great weekend !!

And thank you for your prayers for Beau's safe return.

The thunder is a scary thing.
It is seasonal when it will rain much in the future in Japan.
It fell near my house, and it blacked out.

Simon and Scarlett are oblivious to thunder but the other night we too had a pretty loud thunder-boomer. Shelly was on our porch and she high-tailed it out of there and plopped down on my lap in a little ball. It's amazing how small she can make herself :-)

I am NOT afraid of thunder, shockingly enough. I am terrified of everything else, though (including Victoria's Secret bags, bugs, cups in the yard, my girls hair clips, etc...).

I don't think I'd like thunder either. I know I don't like the evil fireworks and my Mom says they sound like thunder too. Poor girl...and how mean is it of your Mom to not let you sit in your lap!!!

Lots of Licks, Ruby

Flash is afraid of Thunder. It is the only time he will sleep all night with mom and dad in the bed. I don't mind it at all.

Most of the time, thunder doesn't faze us. But when we get a big boomer, we go scurrying for cover!

I'm not afraid, but it's certainly nothing to be ashamed of, Lola. Althought it IS very sad that your mom didn't hold you and hand-feed you steak and ice cream throughout the storm to help you feel better....

I'M NOT. Except that I am. sigh. I never used to be until my sissy Morgan--who was afraid of thunder and used to flatten herself out and get under the bed--died. Now I am afraid! My ma ape is terrible about the not comforting thing. I am distracted by food and a little bit by toys. I wish I could be more like Sherman (ie, eating snacks).

Poor Lola. I am so sorry you get frightened by thunders. Don't worry you are safe inside your house.
If I heard boms coming from the sky I bark at them and I want to go outside to know what is happening.
Have a nice weekend

Dot-Spot and I are for sure. We hate it. We're starting to think Bear isn't a fan either.

Sometimes I get nervous when there's a slight chance of rain too. ;)

I don't like thunder at all, but we don't get it very much thank Dog! Once I was walking with Jeannie across a big wide field ahead of her, when the thunder rolled suddenly, I bolted at about 60 mph, and she didn't see me for dust!

Only if it's really, really, loud. Loud enough to shake the house, then I get scared. I think as long as mommy or daddy are around I'm fine.

Oh Penny, the nerve of your mommy to not let you sit on her lap the entire storm, isn't that what mommy's are for!

Dakota suddenly became afraid of thunder at the age of five. It's been a hard spring for her, with lots of storms.

The good news is we always know when a storm is coming because Dakota is up on the back of the couch!
