Even though I have 3 beautiful, healthy, perfect dogs (OK, perfect most days), I'm still in the habit of checking out local rescues & shelters websites...just to look. I was doing that today when I came across a dog that broke my heart.
This is Charlie. And his story is the kind that keeps me up at night.
Charlie was used as a stud dog for a Pennsylvania puppy mill. He was kept in a rabbit cage his whole life and was only taken out to breed with other females. When he stopped "producing", the bastard that owned him was kind enough to turn him into rescue. He said Charlie was "a good dog. He gave me lots of puppies". There is a special place in hell for people like him.
Right now, Charlie is a looking for a foster home and with lots of love and special care, he will hopefully have a year or two living in the lap of luxury.
This is just a gentle reminder to never support puppy mills or backyard breeders. The puppies may tug at your heartstrings, but they most likely have a Dad (and Mom) who has suffered for years...just like Charlie.
Oh, and yes, I've already told Scott we should foster him and yes, he's already said No.

Wow, those eyes stay with you, eh? How very very sad. The pictures were heartbreaking. Poor, poor dog. I hope he finds a home that is wonderful as ours. No dog deserves the awful treatment he had to endure. Some people, yes. Dogs, never.
wally.
Once again we almost cry... those basters who own puppy mills will never disappeared. Very sad...
Hope Charlie will find a lovey forever home.
Momo xoxo
I am so very sad about this...Charlie looks like such a nice boy too.

Love ya lots,

This is another story that is extremely painful to read. When are people ever going to learn? We hope he finds a loving and caring family.

hmm I can send you some of Dad's tooth drugs and maybe Scott will change his mind?
We feel bad for charlie and hope for the best for him :/
Why they did this to Charlie?? Poor boy.
Happily he was rescued and will get the attention he deserves!

Hmm, well you'd better tell Scott to change his mind! I think he'd be a great addition to the family, and it might be good for ol' Sherman to have a break from those two, crazy girls, and hang out with a guy! Hehe.
That story is really sad... I do hope Charlie finds a great home.

Oh, I so hope Charle gets a wonderful forever home. I hate the evil puppy mill people. I hope Charlie's story really gets out and more people understand how bad puppy mills can be. Thank you for sharing this story.
Your pal,
Kirby
What a sad way to live. Some hoomans can be so very cruel. :( I hope he finds a nice home soon.
We hated those people who owns puppy mills. To them, dogs are just money making machines.
Luv,
Snowball
Jen,
You are my girl's kind of hooman! She would foster every dog we hear of like this, if she wouldn't be hauled into the looney bin for hording dogs.
I second everything Wally said. My girl gets so worked up when she hears things like this, and hoomans like this breeder better hope they never meet her face to face.
I sure hope Charlie gets some good peeps soon!
Goober love,
Stanley
Oh.. I hope Charlie will find a good furever home soon. Those puppy mills are evil..

oh I can hardly bear to read his story, I have just put my eye make up on, so I will save reading it for later on tonight when black panda eyes will be more acceptable to the general public.
I, like you, am kept awake by thinking of dogs ill treated.
So sad, there is no justice in this world, I hear so many sob stories.
Hope Charlie boy finds some lovin parents very soon.

What a sad story and there are so many out there like Charlie. :(
So Scott said no about fostering.........how about adoption? ;)

We're routing for Charlie...that's so horrible. We don't know why some hoomans are just the best and others so....well...just pond scum. It makes us appreciate what we have...and grieve for all the Charlie's of the world.
Thoughtful barks,
Scruffy and Lacie
our mom checks the dog rescue sites too. sometimes it makes her very sad and her eyes get all watery. she wants to give good homes to all of the dogs. but we say that 4 is enough!

Oh, that is so woofully sad! I hope he finds a furever home wif a family who will make him feel that he is special & wuved & does not have to be around just to 'perform' one specific duty. That mean, sumb****, man needs to be beat & put in a cage!!!!!

Hi-Woo Sherman,
Maybe you think that us Huskies are a Wolfie & that we might eat you. That's OK, even if we can't meet, we are still blogging buddies!

It never amazes us how evil and horrible humans can be. We are crying for Charlie, but happy he is FINALLY in good and loving hands.
