If I didn't have dogs...

-I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.

-My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.

-All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.

-When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel.

-I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable.

-I would not have strange presents under my Christmas tree - dog bones, stuffed animals, toys, and treats nor would I have to explain to people why I wrap them.

-I would have money and no guilt to go on a real vacation.

-I would not be on a first-name basis with 4 veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grand kids through college.

-The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, and leave him/her/it ALONE.

-My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers.

-My house would not look like a day care center, toys everywhere.

-My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an extra leash.

-I would no longer have to Spell the words B-A-L-L-, F-R-I-S-B-E- E, W-A-L- K, T-R-E-A-T or R-I-D-E.

-I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.

-I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much.

-I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading "muddy" season.

-I would not have to answer the question "Why do you have so many animals?" from people who do not have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get.

If I didn't have dogs ................... How empty my life would be.

Life just isn't the same without pets. I don't understand those people who don't think that way.

So, so true...I think I'd be living in a mansion right now if I didn't have dogs. What's the use though?!?! :)

I can't imagine living without, there's just no way.

The day care bit made Mummy laugh. The people who look at my toy box and ask who's child they are for.

This is so well put! As I read down the list I said yes, yes, yes I agree with all of those things but then as you say it really is a small price to pay for the love and happiness my two special girls bring to my life. I've had dogs my whole life thus far and plan on having the company of dogs for the rest of it.

I think mistress has read that before - and always likes to read it again. It is so nice that lots of other humans think the same way (although I think she is sick of PippaFur at the moment).

We agree with you totally! People without pets or those who do not open their hearts to their pets will never understand how wonderful we are. Once they start to apreciate it, they can never imagine their lives without pets anymore.

I agree with Marvin! My hoomans' lives would be soooo empty if they didn't have us in the 1st place. We are sometimes too much trouble but it's better to have some trouble taking care of us then not having us in their lives at all. We dogs make their lives whole!

I recently had my childhood home movies turned into a DVD for my mom. As I sat there watching it I realize that from birth there has always been a four footed, furry friend (or more!) in my life.

I just don't get the SIND & DIND crowds [single income no dog(s) and double income no dog(s].

Thanks for putting it so well Jen!

Most certainly true! The horses & my dogs have gotten me through some pretty tough times over the years as well as the good times! They all give unconditional love. Cosi & Juni keep me laughing over their antics with each other.

How very true. People who don't have pets just don't get us do they. They don't know what they're missing.
